Artist Statement

I'm pretty much just gluing googly eyes on shit.

The uncanny valley hypothesis suggests that when human features are altered very slightly from a normal state, it may elicit feelings of discomfort or even revulsion in many people.

Even silly plastic eyes— strategically placed on a found photograph— can be a source of cognitive dissonance. At the minimum it can transform subjects into new characters or dramatically change a photograph's narrative.

If it isn't obvious already, I'm also gently poking fun at many of the artist statements that accompany so many modern photography exhibitions.  Photography has the power inform, enlighten, and affect social change— but is should also be a source of joy, like it was when we first discovered it.
